Cross, the Corruption resembles a bacteria. This makes sense from a practical standpoint the Corruption can spread via otherwise-useless food sources, leaving the intact corpses to become combat-oriented Necromorphs.Īccording to a log addressed to Dr. This implies that the Corruption will use any available biological matter-or, at least, any animal tissue-to grow. Scans showed that, after Marker 3A was destroyed and the Corruption was reduced to an organic sludge due to the absence of a Marker signal, what was left was only 70% human DNA. Like all Necromorphs, the Corruption is only active in the presence of a Marker signal.Ĭorruption formation in the Tripods' Nest. The Corruption is one of the first and most pervasive signs of a Necromorph outbreak. It just seemed to be in multiple points on the ship, all at once." -Prof. That's why we haven't been able to pinpoint any specific origin point, I think. One of these bacterium reproduces twenty-fold in just one minute. What's most incredible is the speed at which it grows. This organism infects other cells through osmosis, then mutates and reproduces agamogenetically. Given its affinity for dead tissue, at first I thought it was some sort of fungus, but the cells most closely resemble bacteria with viral behavior. It's just that, being human, we're not easily able to see the chance of that being the case.Description " This substance is absolutely fascinating. And once a species shows that they could get to the technological level of the extinct evil species, the Brethren Moons lure the species in with unlimited power without warning of the price. It isn't out of the realm of possibilities for the Brethren Moons to actually be protectors of the galaxy. They are part of a process to make sure that no species can become too technologically advanced. This would explain why the Markers remain dormant across the galaxy until a species reaches a certain technological level. So an ancient race created the Brethren Moons to both defeat the evil race as well as making sure another evil race never again plagued the galaxy. Such as there was an evil race that was causing chaos unlike anything seen thus far in the Dead Space series. One which required extreme actions to both defeat and avoid in the future. While it would seem evil to us, the original creators of the Brethren Moons could have been trying to avoid a disaster that was ravaging the galaxy. Or possibly the Brethren Moons were created as a defensive measure. But why? Wouldn't such a foe being defeated be a good thing? So a galaxy without the Brethren Moons would create a whole new kind of Hell. Sometimes, you are better off with the devil that you knew." Would the players find a way out of the Necromorph apocalypse? I would say yes, but they might be sorry that they did. "I did not want to give the lore away, but I would say that we spent a bit of time working the origin of the Necromorphs out and what purpose that the humans held in this dark universe. One piece of information is this quote by Ben Wanat (former Dead Space creative director): While Dead Space 4 has been cancelled, there is some information hinting at what the game could have been. I'm not saying that it is wrong to attack the Brethren Moons, but they might just have the interests of all the galaxy in mind. Now this seems hard to imagine as we're humans and, therefore, something that is trying to kill us is an enemy. Or at least they wouldn't be pure evil like they are currently. ![]() They could be defenders that should be rewarded. It could be that they are actually protectors of the galaxy. If we knew who created the Brethren Moons and what their functions are then if they are evil or not would be much clearer. Is that the case of the Necromorphs, Markers, and Brethren Moons in the Dead Space Universe? Or are they all evil? So anyone or anything that causes suffering can easily be accused of being evil. Part of that reason comes from our perception that ourselves, those we know, and our species shouldn't suffer. The lines between good and evil can be extremely hard to tell at times. ![]() This post was requested by members of HERE WE STAND.
